Are you wondering what a yarn bowl is? If you knit or crochet a yarn bowl makes your life easier as it stops your wool from getting all tangled up and from rolling across the floor.
In my case it prevents the cats and dog from chewing my wool up.
Your ball of wool will now roll in place in the Yarn Bowl. Can you believe there is a solution to your wool nightmare. You can now knit and crochet to your heart's content without constantly worrying about what your wool is doing.
Just slip your wool through the swirl in the front of the bowl and you are ready to get on with your knitting or crochet. When you are done you do not need to cut your wool you simply slip your wool back through the swirl.
There are 3 additional holes in each bowl so that up to 4 balls of wool can be used at one time.
You can also push your knitting needles through the 2 holes on the side. The one hole at the back is for another ball of wool.
If you use the holes instead of the swirl to feed your wool you will need to cut your wool to remove your knitting. Wool will need to be pulled from the center if you are using multiple balls of wool.
Each Yarn Bowl is high fired ceramic so it is durable and easy to clean. Please remember that this is a ceramic yarn bowl so do not use excessive force on the swirl.
They are glazed both inside and out so there are no rough edges for your wool to catch on. All the Yarn Bowls are poured in a mold. I break many bowls in the cutting out and cleaning process as I am meticulous in my determination to obtain a beautiful finish.
When you use a yarn bowl that I have made you are working with a beautiful functional piece of art where attention to detail is a priority. (My friends always comment that I cannot possibly expect to make any money as I spend far too much time on each item often firing multiple times to get the result I want.) Sometimes little cracks appear in the bottom of the inside of the bowl due to the nature of the handmade process. These cracks do not go all the way through and in no way diminish the strength of the item. This information is always provided in the product description. I never sell defective ware.
Each Yarn Bowl is made with different combinations of speciality glazes so they are always One of a kind.
If you do not like the chaos of all the textures and colours on a single bowl I am making single colour yarn bowls with additions which are available in a multitude of colours.
The bottom line is that if I make another pink cat yarn bowl it will be in a different pink to any other that I have made before.
The swirl that holds the yarn is cut out by hand and as I do not use a template every swirl is different.
The joy in making these bowls for me lies in the fact that I do not have to duplicate anything exactly.
Due to the fact that the Yarn Bowls are handmade with such a variety of speciality glazes that are also unpredictable it is impossible to make a second one of anything.
The Large Yarn Bowl is 16cm Wide x 11.5cm High so it can hold a large ball of wool.

For me the joy is in the process of making and experimenting with the glazes. This is where I get to have fun an essential part in every creatives life.
